Meet David
For more than 35 years, Dave Young has helped individuals, families, and business owners navigate some of life's most important financial decisions.
As both a Certified Public Accountant and Financial Advisor, Dave brings a unique perspective that combines tax expertise, business experience, and wealth management insight.
Dave's professional journey began as an Enrolled Agent before earning his CPA license and eventually founding Young & Company CPAs, LLP in 1999. Over the years, he realized that many of his clients' biggest questions extended well beyond taxes. They were making decisions about retirement, selling a business, caring for family members, planning for future generations, and achieving financial independence.
Becoming a Financial Advisor allowed Dave to help clients address those broader questions while continuing to provide the tax guidance that has always been a cornerstone of his practice.
One of the things Dave enjoys most about his work is helping clients make sense of complex decisions. He believes that educated clients make better decisions and that good advice starts with listening. Whether working with a business owner preparing for retirement, a family navigating a major life transition, or a client facing a complex tax issue, his goal is to help people make informed decisions and move forward with confidence.
Dave is an active leader within the accounting profession and currently serves as a Director-at-Large on the statewide Board of Directors of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYCPA). He is also a recognized advocate for financial literacy and taxpayer education. Through his regular appearances on Rochester television, he helps viewers better understand tax issues, financial literacy concepts, and financial topics affecting individuals, families, and small business owners.
In addition to building and leading his CPA practice, Dave served more than 27 years in the United States Army Reserve, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his military service, he completed two post-9/11 deployments and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Action Badge. The lessons in leadership, service, and integrity that he learned in the military continue to influence his approach to serving clients today.
Outside of the office, Dave serves as Executive Director of Heart of God Haiti, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Haitian children and families through education and community support. He also enjoys cycling throughout Western New York and can often be found riding along the Erie Canal Path. Dave and his wife, Julie, live in the Rochester area with their Wonder Dog, CoCo, who is always happy to join him for a walk and usually has strong opinions about the route.
Whether working with clients, serving the profession, or supporting the community, Dave is passionate about helping people make informed decisions and move forward with confidence.
